Tim Lienhard is a trombonist, educator, musical entrepreneur and arts advocate based in Houston, TX. He is the founder and Executive Director of New England Conservatory's Jazz Lab, and serves as the Associate Director of Admission for Enrollment Marketing and Communications at Rice University.

 Tim grew up in rural eastern Washington state where he began learning and playing jazz. In 2006, Tim moved to Boston, MA to attend the New England Conservatory (NEC) where he received both Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees in Jazz Performance. Upon graduation, Tim accepted a position in the Office of Admission at NEC where he advanced the conservatory's recruitment profile by building marketing and communications strategies, expanding geographic outreach, and developing NEC's signature summer program, Jazz Lab. Soon after, Tim transitioned to a leadership position at NPR's From the Top with Host Christopher O'Riley where he developed the Admissions & Alumni Relations department, recruiting highly talented young classical musicians across the United States. In 2016, after 10 years in Boston, Tim and his family moved to Houston, TX.

Throughout his life, Tim has maintained an active performing, teaching and recording career. He has been a guest artist and clinician at the JZ Club in Shanghai, China, the Panama Jazz Festival, summer faculty at New England Conservatory, and regular teaching artist at Eastern Washington University. Tim has performed and recorded extensively, including appearances with Ruben Blades, Connie Francis, Danilo Perez, Dave Holland, George Garzone, and Dave Liebman. He performs on Getzen trombones and studied under Bob Brookmeyer, Frank Carlberg, John McNeil, and Douglas Yeo.
