Jazz Lab

Designed to promote artistry, practical training, and creative music making, Jazz Lab welcomes high school students from the U.S. and abroad to work with New England Conservatory's premier faculty and participate in a week full of improvisation, small group training, jam sessions and entrepreneurial workshops. The Jazz Lab curriculum focuses on developing student's passion for music, using a holistic approach to musical training that is one of a kind in high school jazz education.

Individualized

Jazz Lab is open to students at any level in their jazz development - from those who hope to pursue music at the college level to students looking to foster a life-long love of music. The low student to faculty ratio and small ensemble sizes ensure that each participant in the program will be pushed and challenged throughout the week.

Collaborative

The program endeavors to train creative and collaborative thought-leaders in jazz. Much like New England Conservatory's collegiate jazz program, Jazz Lab is centered around the idea that each individual has a unique musical voice and honing that distinctive voice is the key to artistic expression. Students return to their musical communities inspired and ready to lead.

Unparalleled Faculty

Jazz Lab is anchored by interactions between students and faculty. Students thrive when given opportunities to work one-on-one with thought leaders in jazz education. Henrique Eisenmann, Jazz Lab's Artistic Director, is a singular force in developing the Jazz Lab curriculum and curating a transformational musical experience.
